Hi-Lo Hotel

ADBusch LLC worked with Jessica Helgerson Interior Design to furnish the lobby and communal room of Hi-Lo hotel, a boutique hotel in downtown Portland, Oregon. This project included a 22’ live edge walnut communal room table, and is one of the most prolific pieces our shop has fabricated to date. Starting at 55” wide and 27’ long, this singular slab of Oregon black walnut was sourced from a heritage tree outside the Salem capital building. The tree had fallen ill, died and needed to be removed so we reached out about harvesting the wood for this project. Repurposing the trimmed ends of the slab, we designed lobby coffee tables each uniquely highlighting the wabi-sabi beauty of the offcut pieces of walnut. Keeping with the warm tones of the oak, we hand patinaed the base with black oxide adding a richness and warmth to the solid steel legs. In addition to these communal room pieces, we produced the lobby reception desk, two conference tables and a retail shelving system for the hotel.
