Ledding Library

For the new Florence Ledding Library in Milwakie, Oregon we were hired by public art company Site Specific LLC to design and build custom casement boxes installed within a large architectural dividing wall. Each casement box functions as a window through the wall and each are uniquely canted and built to the requirements of the art object it holds. To maintain a clean line, our team designed built in locking hardware which allows staff to open the casements to maintain the art objects as needed. To complete the public artwork, we clad the wall in beech slats complementing the solid beech casement boxes. Responding to the final aesthetic of the public art wall, Hacker Architects then hired our team to build a corresponding front reception desk for the library as well as other table and work stations throughout the space.
